Old School Tradition

ree

This is action from a 1966 soccer game at Peterborough High School—complete with bulky uniforms and cleats, and a strange-looking ball. (We believe that’s Jim Clark at left, pursuing the ball with Merrimack High opponents.)

Four years before it joined Antrim High to form Conval, the ‘66 Hilanders finished with a 5-5-2 record. The crowds for home games were large and lined the rough field or sat in cars on the road overlooking the field—still the athletic fields behind the elementary school.

Fifty-eight seasons later, soccer remains a hot sport at Conval, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams qualifying for the state tournament this week. Good luck, Cougars!👊
